Drummond Reid offer many different types of pianos but the one thing they all have in common is they come with a comprehensive guarantee.

What is covered?

A typical piano has over 2000 moving parts! It is not uncommon for even a new piano to have the odd sticking part, key, hammer etc. All pianos bought from Drummond Reid come with either a 1, 3, 5  year guarantee. In the unlikely event of something going wrong, Drummond Reid will provide a tuner to rectify any problems. This will only be carried out providing the piano has been tuned within the previous 12 months.

Piano Care

  • Central heating systems are common in every household and these can also cause problems. Moisture is sucked from the piano and dries out the wooden components. When the heating is switched off at night, the humidity rises and in the morning when the heating is switched on again it drops. This causes some instability and it is recommended to keep the temperature of the room at between 18 and 20 degrees.
  • Keep piano away from direct sunlight and away from radiators. Too much direct sun and heat will only lead to fading of the finish and more importantly loose pins or even a cracked soundboard.
  • Treat your piano like a valuable piece of furniture. Clean modern finished pianos with a well rung out damp cloth and dry off. French Polished finishes require greater maintenance but a good reviver twice a year on the case is sufficient.
  • Do not stand plants/vases or candles on top of your piano. Water seepage into the action can lead to a costly overhaul. Hot wax from candles will cause damage to your finish.
