Not all pianos cost the earth !! BUT some seem too good to be true !! A customer was suckered into buying this from Gumtree because it looked good, had been re-polished, sounded ok to her and was a snip at £750.00.. SHE BOUGHT IT ! Unaware to her that the piano was untunable , was in fact 90 years old ( not 30 as she was told !) and was fit for nothing else other than the scrap heap !
She had no way of getting it lifted so she contacted ourselves for our removal services ! I charged her £120 for local relocation .. So at this stage she has spent £870.00, no sttol, no warranty and NO idea what she bought ! I told her my concerns and pointed her to a local independant piano tuner who sadly was the bearer of more bad news !
He was unable to tune the piano because the tuning pins were all loose and a MAJOR expensive job to put right ! So at this stage she has spent , £750 piano , £120 relocation costs, £89 piano stool and £60 for tuner .. grand total £1019 for a total SCRAPPER !..
She was desperate for her children to keep up the piano, so she came back to me , i got her a great entry level instrument, 3 years warranty,
free delivery, stool and free tuning.. Her current spend has been just shy of £2200.. for their first piano !! But now the family have a wonderful reliable instrument with a great warranty and if she needs anything we are only a phone call away should she have any unlikely issues !
SO ! The moral of the story is BUYER BEWARE FROM GUMTREE !
